Barnstable, MA: A bench trial resulted in the conviction of an individual from Waltham, as stated by Cape and Islands District Attorney Robert Galibois, about two counts of rape. The trial pertained to the sexual assault that occurred against a woman in the municipality of Osterville in June 2017.
In his appearance before Barnstable Superior Court Judge Thomas Perrino, 38-year-old Anthony Collins pleaded guilty to the charge of assaulting a second woman. Collins was accused of two counts of indecent assault and battery on an individual aged 14 or older, both of which occurred after his conviction.
As per the statement provided by the District Attorney’s office, Judge Perrino imposed a prison term of three and a half to four and a half years on Collins, with an additional three years of probationary status.

The two women visited the Osterville residence of a mutual acquaintance in June 2017, where Collins was staying at the time, according to a press release from the office of the district attorney.
It was his first encounter with both of the women that evening. A woman in the group, labeled as Victim 1 in the press release, lost consciousness while intoxicated; her associates provided her with a bed during her unconscious state. It has been alleged that Collins forcibly entered her chamber and subsequently subjected her to a sexual assault after all other individuals had gone to bed. The authorities are investigating his actions.
The District Attorney’s office reports that Collins attempted to grope the other woman, who has been designated as Victim 2, on two separate occasions.
The Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office issued a statement announcing their decision to refrain from further comment.
