New York City, NY: A man was stabbed during a violent altercation on a Manhattan subway in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The victim, aged 34, was mercilessly stabbed in the back while traveling through midtown on a northbound E-train, according to law enforcement sources.

Each of the two individuals was acquainted with the other. It was unknown what incited the altercation.

Upon the train coming to a halt at 53rd and Lexington, the assailant and two companions fled the scene by boarding a train for Queens.

The victim was transported to the hospital, where his condition was listed as stable.

The presence of evidentiary pools of blood remaining within the E-train carriage exposed the heinous character of the early morning assault, compelling the MTA to deactivate the train.

On Sunday night, police initiated a pursuit of the metro stabber while offering a $3,500 reward for information that could result in his apprehension. Just before 11 p.m., the NYPD released video footage of the suspect along with a call for information on X.

In Brooklyn, hours after that assault, another individual was punched and stabbed.

Just before 8:00 a.m., the 22-year-old was the target of the violent crime. To report the incident, she boarded an A-train at Nostrand and Fulton and traveled to East New York. The nature of his condition remained undisclosed.

The two incidents transpired just weeks after Mayor Eric Adams criticized new technology that will scan the passengers for firearms in subway stations, which has made subway safety a contentious issue.
