In Waterbury, authorities have filed charges against two individuals following an incident where a child suffered 2nd and 3rd-degree burns last month.
On October 24th, the investigation was initiated by the police special victims unit following a report from St. Mary’s Hospital.
The child’s mother, Keturah Williams, 36, and her partner Damon Martin, 51, have been taken into custody.
Authorities report that the couple was looking after the six-month-old during the event.
A child was subsequently transported to Connecticut Children’s in Hartford.
Authorities report that the child fell from a bed and landed on a hot electric heating element.
Authorities report that the individuals involved postponed getting medical assistance for the infant due to their consumption of alcohol and drugs, which they believe contributed to the delay in seeking help.
They are both charged with endangering a child’s well-being, corrupting morals, and committing acts of cruelty.
Martin’s bail has been established at $150,000.
Williams remains in custody with a bail set at $75,000.
