A lady was taken into custody by state troopers on an allegation of felony child abuse following an incident that occurred at Bright Beginnings Daycare.
Millsboro resident Veronica Ayres, 47 years old, was taken into custody by the Delaware State Police. According to the police, the Division of Family Services informed them on June 3 that a staff member at Bright Beginnings Daycare, which is situated at 29735 John J. Williams Highway, had physically abused a child over the previous week.
According to the State Police, Ayres turned herself into Troop 4 on July 9. Once there, she was charged with felony child abuse in the third degree and then released on her recognizance.
On June 3, the Delaware Division of Family Services informed the police that a 47-year-old employee of Bright Beginnings Daycare had assaulted a child who was under her care, according to a news release issued by the police.
On May 31, Veronica Ayres struck a child who was two years old in the face at the institution that is situated at 29735 John J. Williams Highway, as stated by the security personnel. During that day, her employment was terminated, according to the police.
Abuse of children has been a topic of discussion in Delaware on multiple occasions this month.
Additionally, on Friday, the New Castle County Police Department announced that a therapist from the Brandywine School District had been arrested on charges of child sexual abuse. Additionally, on July 3, just a few days after Delaware Online/The News Journal published an investigation into abuse concerns at Holly Oak Child Care Center in Wilmington, the state shut down the facility.
