2 Shot in Manhattan Park; NYPD says they were just Bystanders minding their own business

New York City, NY: On Saturday, during broad daylight, a shooter opened fire in Tompkins Square Park, according to the New York Police Department.

Two individuals, whom authorities claimed were uninvolved spectators, sustained injuries. It took place in the park, near the playground and seats.

Officers in cars and on foot are scouring the region as the New York Police Department remains on high alert.

Chicagoan Jennifer Lee exclaimed, “Wow, that is really terrifying.”

“Listen up, this isn’t good news. According to Isabella Caria of Dyker Heights, “we’re just trying to have a nice day” by walking to the park.

Past one o’clock in the afternoon, gunshots broke out. According to CBS New York, the shooter was allegedly threatened by multiple individuals before he drew a gun and opened fire.

Five gunshots were reported by the police. An individual shot a woman in the hip and another struck a male in his twenties to thirties in the buttocks. Bellevue Hospital said that both victims are in stable condition after they were transferred there.

The fleeing individual was last seen by police heading towards First Avenue and East 9th Street. A black hoodie was his last known attire.

It’s terrible, obviously, and you become somewhat desensitized to it after a while; after all, these kinds of tragedies seem to occur more frequently now than in the past, particularly in light of the recent train incident. Many people were out and about, and they were all at risk of injury. “Something has to happen, but I don’t know what it is,” Brooklynite Jeff Nelson remarked.

Madison Delas, an Upper East Side resident, added, “Even on the subway, I take it every day and you just never know, so it’s scary.”
