15-year-old Shot Dead by Father in Ohio, Father tried to Blame Autistic Step-Son for Murder

Dayton, OH: A man from Ohio is charged with fatally shooting his 15-year-old daughter. He allegedly dialed 911 and blamed his autistic stepson. But the officers discerned his tricks and arrested him.

Records indicate that Kenneth Paul Farler III, 38, is being held without bail in the Montgomery County Jail on charges of involuntary manslaughter, weapons violation, probation violation, and child endangerment.

The incident happened at 400 block of Bowen Street on Sunday, according to WHIO.

Farler purportedly indicated to a dispatcher via a 911 call obtained by the outlet that his stepson inadvertently discharged the firearm.

“My stepson, who is autistic, had no idea; it was an accident, ma’am,” he allegedly stated on the call, according to the station. “He has autism.” “He was completely unaware of the actions he was undertaking.”

Maj. Brian Johns of the Dayton Police Department informed the Dayton Daily News that subsequent inquiries and interviews led to the conclusion that the accusations put forth by Farler during the initial 911 call were unfounded.

Johns told the outlet, “The young lady was fatally shot by her father inside the Bowen Street residence.” “By stating that it occurred was an understatement,”

Johns explicitly expressed the investigators’ conviction that the gunshot was deliberate.

He further stated, “I would say it is not an accident.” The victim requested that he refrain from aiming the shotgun at her before her demise. “That cannot be considered an accident.”

A second 911 call purportedly received information from a bystander who stated he was in his vehicle at the time of the gunfire and exclaimed, “Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God.”

“She is a child,” stated the caller. “I have just witnessed them scream and heard a gunshot.”

According to court documents cited by WHIO, Farler was previously arrested in October 2023 for aiming a laser at an Ohio State Highway Patrol helicopter. Johns disclosed to the Daily News that a prior conviction for drug trafficking would disqualify him from possessing a firearm.
