14-year-old Punched Man in Face after Man Tried to Grope and Abduct Girl in Utah; Victim was Walking Home when Incident Happened

Salt Lake City, UT- A man from Utah was charged with sexually assaulting a little girl who was going home. The girl was 12 years old.

An attempted kidnapping of a child is a felony of the first degree, and Mason Musser, age 29, is charged with the crime in the Third District Court.

On July 19, a girl who was 12 years old and her companion who was 14 years old had just gotten off a TRAX train to walk home in the vicinity of 700 East near the I-80 overpass.

According to the criminal documents, Musser grabbed the wrist of the 12-year-old girl.

According to what the girl said, it was quite dark, and the bushes started moving around suddenly. “After that, Musser jumped out of the bushes and grabbed (her) wrist while simultaneously saying, ‘Come over here’ and making sexual comments,” the allegations claim.

The girl, who was just 14 years old at the time, reacted by striking Musser in the face and told her buddy “that they were going to need to run as fast as they could across the street.”

According to the records filed in the court case, the girls signaled for assistance by waving down a car and were then driven to a nearby petrol station, where they called their mothers as reported by KSL News.

Police conducted a search of the neighborhood, discovered Musser, and placed him under arrest. It has been urged by the prosecution that he be detained in the Salt Lake County Jail without the chance of posting bond until the trial is scheduled to take place.
