Teacher Arrested after Sleeping with Minor Student in Alabama after Tip sent to Sheriff’s Deputy

Additional charges have been brought against a substitute teacher in DeKalb County who was accused of engaging in sexual activity with a pupil in February. The indictment against her was handed down by a grand jury.

Stephanie Mechelle Woods, 45, from Henagar was taken into custody on February 9 after the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office stated that it had received a complaint regarding a substitute teacher possibly having inappropriate contact with a student.

She was charged with one count of engaging in sexual activity with a pupil who was younger than 19 years old while she was employed by the school.

During the month of April, a grand jury in DeKalb County, Georgia, indicted Woods on the following charges:

There were three counts of being a school employee who engaged in sexual acts or sexually deviant behavior with a pupil who was younger than 19 years old.

Three counts of being a school employee who distributed or solicited obscene material from or to a student are filed against the defendant.

In addition, the indictment lists the victim’s age as seventeen years old.

According to the records kept at the DeKalb County Jail, Woods was booked once more on Thursday afternoon, but he was released just twenty minutes later.
