13-year-old Beaten to Death by Man; Perpetrator Skips Hearing in South Carolina

A man charged with murder in the fatal beating of a 13-year-old Horry County boy in May voluntarily skipped a preliminary hearing on Friday morning.

Ivy Jenerette, 40, has been in jail since his arrest on May 8 and was scheduled to appear at a hearing on Friday morning. A man has been charged with murder and abuse in connection with the tragic death of Isaiah Gaymes. Authorities allege that the victim was brutally beaten with a piece of wood and a handgun on May 8.

Gaymes sustained severe injuries to the side and back of his head, as well as other significant injuries such as broken bones and burns, as stated in an arrest warrant obtained by WBTW.

Samantha Gaymes, Isaiah’s mother, was arrested following her son’s death. She has been charged with unlawfully placing a child at risk of harm, according to an arrest warrant.

Jenerette continues to be held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center. Samantha Gaymes has been granted release on bond.
