Plano, TX:
A ride-sharing employee has been arrested for aggravated sexual assault on a minor, according to the Plano Police Department.
Robert Johnson III, a 31-year-old Garland resident, was arrested on July 15 following an investigation by the Plano Police Department Special Victims Unit. On July 9, Johnson responded to a pickup request in Frisco, Texas, and picked up an unaccompanied kid.
Johnson allegedly pulled over in the 4200 block of Legacy Drive and sexually abused a 12-year-old rider. The child told their mother about the abuse the next day, and a police report was filed.
On July 12, Judge McGraw found enough probable cause to issue a warrant for aggravated sexual abuse on a child. Johnson was detained by the Plano Police Department Intelligence Unit and is currently being held at the Collin County Jail in McKinney.

The Plano Police Department underlined its commitment to investigating sexual assault cases and encouraged more victims to come forward. “We are urging any additional victims to come forward and contact our SVU tip line at 972-941-2044 or [email protected],” according to the department. The department also commended the Frisco Police Department for their assistance with the case.
The government urged the public to exercise caution while utilizing ride-sharing services and provided various safety advice, such as communicating trip details with a trusted person, checking the driver’s identity, and riding in the back seat.
