A father from Long Island was taken into custody following allegations that his son, who is eleven years old, threatened another youngster with a gun.
According to detectives, a 12-year-old stole his father’s shotgun and warned a 13-year-old to leave his house while the older child rode his bike on 7th Street in Bayville.
After the incident, the 13-year-old supposedly went home and informed his parents.
Police visited the home of the 11-year-old after the event to further investigate the child’s access to the firearm.
The 55-year-old Alfredo Caceres admitted to authorities that he was in possession of multiple firearms and willingly turned them over to them. The boy in question is 11 years old.
There were three firearms found by the police: a 20-gauge shotgun, a 12-gauge shotgun, and a.22-caliber pellet gun. All three were found empty and in an easily accessible and unsecured location.
The guns were confiscated after Caceres was detained.
Further inquiry by the police revealed that no one was endangered and that the 11-year-old had not pointed the shotgun at anyone.
The father’s court appearance is scheduled for September 17th; he is facing first-degree charges of failing to securely store firearms.
