Walmart is introducing a new initiative to provide longer-term employees with greater prospects for advancement and higher compensation.
This week, the retail behemoth located in Arkansas unveiled a new bonus program that rewards loyal employees with incentives. The program is open to hourly shop employees who have worked for the company for at least one year.
An annual bonus of up to $1,000 is available to employees who remain with Walmart for an extended period of time.
Approximately 700,000 hourly employees in the United States are eligible for the new benefits package, according to Walmart as per Scripps News.
The program highlights include:
- 50 distinct fast-track certification programs that workers can take to get their licenses in fields like software engineering, optics, and pharmacy technicians.
- A program that helps individuals go from associate to technician level, with the goal of securing higher-paying positions in fields such as automation, HVAC, and facility maintenance.
- The Me@Walmart app now has a “Total Pay and Benefits” section that gives employees a better picture of their income, discounts, training opportunities, and more.
“These investments are all part of our people-led, tech-powered commitment to Walmart associates,” the company said in a statement. “We believe in them and their potential. We know that when they’re given the right tools, opportunities for growth and investments in their personal well-being, they can accomplish more than they imagined personally and professionally.”
