A Tooele County mother was taken into custody following accusations of child abuse.
A probable cause statement states that Ashley Dawn Solomon, 35, was taken into custody by the Tooele County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) on one count of severe child abuse and one count of reckless endangerment.
During an interview with investigators, the victim—who was only described as a male child—said Solomon got angry over a conversation about living arrangements after consuming a few alcoholic beverages.
According to the affidavit, the victim was tossed onto his bed. “Sit on his chest, pin his arms down with her legs causing his hands to turn purple and go numb,” Solomon continued.
The victim then said to the authorities that the suspect attempted to induce him to “pass out” by covering his mouth with her hand.
The victim allegedly drove to his father’s house shortly after that.
During the child’s medical checkup, the doctor expressed his concerns about the child’s safety if they were to return home, as stated in the affidavit.
After being found, Solomon was brought to the Tooele County Sheriff’s Office, where she reportedly acknowledged covering the child’s arms with her legs.
Solomon reportedly acknowledged that she had the youngster restrained by putting his arms under her thighs and straddling his upper chest. The accused acknowledged that she stayed there for around five minutes.
After her arrest, she was brought to the Tooele County Detention Facility.
