Utah Mom Murdered With Her 3 Young Kids in Home Fled Myanmar to Escape Violence, Per Family

At the hands of her husband, a mother from Utah who had survived violence and ethnic cleansing in Myanmar was killed this week.

According to CBS News, the bodies of Bu Meh, 38, her daughters Kristina Ree, 8, and Nyay Meh, 2, as well as her son Boe Reh, 11, in their home were discovered. It was discovered that a revolver was hidden beneath the body of the father, Dae Reh, who was 42 years old. This led the authorities to believe that the crime was a murder-suicide.

The two oldest children, as well as the father, escaped their home nation of Myanmar with little more than the clothes that were on their backs. This event took place little over a decade ago.

Under the guise of “ethnic cleansing,” the family claimed in a statement that they had fled in order to avoid the violence that was being perpetrated by the government. According to a report by CBS, the family survived a period of time in a refugee camp before arriving in the United States. They were members of the Karenni ethnic minority.

“Our hearts ache for the loss of life and potential. Bu Meh was a beautiful wife and mother. She brought light to her family.

She worked hard to provide for them and to meet their needs. As a refugee and immigrant woman, she faced significant hurdles to her family’s well-being and success,” according to the family.

“Since coming to the United States, she taught herself English, learned valuable skills, and worked tirelessly to support her growing family. Her dream was to one day own her own home.”

The only member of the family to survive the shooting was Sha Reh, who was 17 years old.

“Sha Reh is our 17-year-old hero,” according to the statement. “He has a long and complex road to recovery. He needs our full attention. Our unconditional love and the Savior’s gifts of healing and peace.”

A member of the family requested that we investigate the house on Monday evening, but he could not discover any indications of a disruption.

The relative went to the house on Tuesday, took a look inside the garage, and discovered that Sha Reh was hurt. A member of the family contacted the authorities.

“Our family is cooperating with local law enforcement to better understand the motive behind these senseless acts of violence. While the perpetrator of these heinous acts is deceased, we know that God’s justice is not,” as per the family.
