Uber Driver Brutally Molested College Student at Her Dorm Room in Pennsylvania; Arrested and Victim Reeling with Shock

Authorities in Pennsylvania have taken an Uber driver into custody following allegations that he pursued a college student into her dormitory and assaulted her after providing transportation to her residence.

On Friday, authorities took Mirvan Dinler, 26, into custody, according to reports from a Philadelphia news outlet. The incident reportedly occurred on the evening of September 13, as stated by the station.

A person, whose identity remains undisclosed, was said to be celebrating a birthday with friends in Philadelphia on that evening. She reportedly began to feel unwell while on her way to a nightclub, prompting her to choose to head home instead. According to reports, her friends stayed by her side until her Uber showed up to take her back to her dorm.

Authorities have identified the Uber driver as Dinler. According to the WPVI report, he is said to have picked her up at approximately 10:19 p.m., reaching the university nearly an hour later, at 11:08 p.m.

He reportedly followed her into her dorm room after he dropped her off. According to police reports, he is accused of sexually assaulting her and compelling her to engage in oral sex.

After leaving, Dinler reportedly returned and insisted that the victim pay him for what he claimed was a mess in his vehicle. She reportedly gave him her phone, which Dinler is said to have used to transfer $150 through Venmo. According to WPVI, he ultimately departed following that incident.

The student informed university officials about the supposed incident the week after it occurred. A representative for Villanova has indicated that the driver is prohibited from accessing Villanova property while the investigation is ongoing.

Court documents reveal that Dinler faces charges of sexual assault, indecent behavior, and endangerment. Some of the allegations have been intensified due to the victim’s condition after consuming several drinks that evening, categorizing them as a “substantially impaired person.”

Uber announced that Dinler has departed from the ride-share company.

“Sexual assault is a devastating crime that has no place in our society, Uber said in a statement, according to CBS News Philadelphia. “We are appalled by what’s been described, and banned the driver as soon as this was reported to us. We will assist law enforcement however we can.”

Court documents reveal that Dinler could not secure bail and is presently detained at the Delaware County Prison. A hearing is set for Oct. 17.
