Trial Date Set for Former School Employee Accused of Molesting Student in Arkansas

BENTONVILLE, Ark. (Honk News) – The trial for a former Bentonville Schools employee accused of sexually assaulting a student has been scheduled, according to court documents.

Micah Whitfield, 47, was arrested on January 29, 2024, for second-degree sexual assault. Whitfield served as the technical director for the district’s Arend Arts Center.

According to Benton County Prosecuting Attorney Joshua Robinson, Whitfield’s trial date is June 17.

A probable cause document alleges that a female student had repeated contacts with Whitfield on school grounds.

Whitfield admitted to having sexual contacts with the student at the Arend Arts Center, according to the affidavit.

He informed police that he had jurisdiction over the arts program and talked with the student via Snapchat despite being ordered not to.

Whitfield was fired on February 23, 2024, according to Leslee Wright of the Bentonville School District.

He is now free on a $50,000 bond.
