Traffic Stop Leads to Major Drug Bust: 44 Pounds of Meth Found in Vehicle with Child

Angelina County Sheriff Tom Selman stated that a deputy made a traffic check on Friday afternoon for speeding and discovered 44 pounds of methamphetamine in the vehicle.

What was even more alarming was the fact that the driver was holding his son, who was seven years old at the time. The incident took place on Loop 287 on the east side of Lufkin at approximately 2:00 p.m.

According to the sheriff, the driver, Alex Aguirre, who is 27 years old and is from Fort Worth, was transported to the Angelina County Jail, where he will be charged with activities related to the distribution of drugs.

It was brought to the attention of Sheriff Selman that Aguirre already had a record that included an arrest in Fort Worth in 2018 for a felony charge of Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance, which was of the first degree.
