Toddler Found Safe in Rhode Island After Father Kidnapped Him from Daycare, Mother Relieved after 18-year-old Reunited with Her

A toddler, just 18 months old, has been located unharmed in Pawtucket, R.I., following his father’s abduction of him from a daycare in Canton on Thursday afternoon, according to police reports.

Authorities took the child’s father into custody on Webster Street in Pawtucket, while emergency personnel were observed placing the child into an ambulance for assessment.

Canton police have labeled the situation as a parental abduction, indicating that Nathan Dorosario Sr. removed his son, Nathan Dorosario Jr., from a daycare located at 1 Wellness Way in Canton. The abduction was initially reported at approximately 3 p.m.

Dorosario Jr. was found approximately 90 minutes after the initial reports of the kidnapping surfaced.

Authorities located Dorosario Jr. by tracking his father’s phone signal. Dorosario Jr. was discovered in his father’s embrace in a parking lot on Webster Street.

Footage from the surveillance cameras reveals that officers arrived at the parking lot in under a minute after Dorosario Sr. showed up.

“The cops kept telling the guy to put the kid down. He was a little upset, the guy, and the cops were surrounding him,” said witness Krykette Kowalski.

Dorosario Jr. and his mother came together again at a Rhode Island hospital on Thursday afternoon.

Dorosario Sr. is set to stay in the Pawtucket area overnight before his first court appearance and extradition hearing in Rhode Island on Friday.

“People think in funny ways, like they’re going to get away, these days. You can’t, there’s police everywhere,” said John Comey, who was in the parking lot when the father was arrested.
