A Texas mother, aged 29, has been taken into custody after reportedly leaving her 3-year-old son unattended in a car that was parked illegally and subsequently towed. At the same time, she entered a club to consume alcohol.
Brandy Rachelle Brown was arrested on Monday and faces a charge of endangering a child, according to court records examined by Law&Crime.
In a recent filing with the Harris County District Court, it was reported that Houston Police Department officers responded to a call about an illegally parked vehicle around 12:25 a.m. on Monday in the 2400 block of Wheeler Street.
A tow truck driver encountered an unexpected situation when he towed Brown’s car, only to find a 3-year-old child peacefully sleeping in the backseat.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office clarified that the tow truck driver moved Brown’s Acura from its illegal parking spot down the block before properly securing it, as reported by Houston Fox affiliate KRIV. It seems that this is a frequent approach among tow truck drivers, as it helps minimize conflicts with vehicle owners.
While the tow truck driver was working to secure the vehicle, they noticed a sleeping child in the backseat and promptly contacted emergency services.

Court filings reveal that Brown left the young child “in [the] car asleep for a minimum of 28 minutes while she attended a club.”
The legal document elaborates that she placed her child in a situation of “imminent danger” of physical and mental impairment by leaving him “unattended in an illegally parked car at night while going drinking at a nightclub during which the car was towed away with the child inside.”
Documents indicate that Brown has a history of various offenses, such as operating a vehicle under the influence and obstructing the responsibilities of a public official. She faced conviction for the DUI offense and was found to be without a valid license during her arrest.
According to KRIV, medical personnel assessed the toddler and found them to be in good health. He is now under the care of a relative.
According to records, Brown was taken into custody at the Harris County Jail and later released after posting a bond of $7,500.
