A man posted child porn in a chat room and was jailed after a Pedo Lives Matter group chat in Texas got out.
According to U.S. Attorney Alamdar S. Hamdani, a 35-year-old man from Spring has been found guilty of sending, getting, and having material containing child sexual abuse.
On November 30, 2023, Oscar Barrios said he was guilty.
A U.S. District Judge named Alfred Bennett gave Barrios a sentence of 144 months for giving and receiving child pornography and 120 months for having child pornography on his person. Both sentences will be carried out at the same time, adding up to 12 years in jail. The court stressed that Barrios broke the trust that was put in him as a father with young children living with him.
It was decided that Barrios should pay $20,500 to the people who were hurt. He will also be under supervision for five years after his jail sentence is over. He will have to follow a lot of rules that are meant to limit his contact with minors and online sites during that time. Barrios will have to sign up as a sex offender as well.
Using chat apps like Kik and Discord, Barrios sent and received child pornography. People in some of the online chatrooms he used, including one with a scary name, were caught sharing illegal and harmful material. In these chatrooms, Barrios said some disturbing things about a young female cousin, showing inappropriate interest in her.
Click2Houston News reports that when police searched the suspect’s electronics, they found 66 movies and one picture of child pornography.
For now, Barrios will stay in jail until he is moved to a U.S. Bureau of Prisons location, which will be decided soon. With the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services’ help, the FBI did the probe.
