Texas Grandmother Fed Girl Degreaser and Nail Polish Remover to make Her Sick and Gain Sympathy: Police

Honk News (San Antonio, TX) -Initially, medical professionals were unable to determine a diagnosis for the 7-year-old girl from Texas who experienced ulcers in her gastrointestinal tract along with damage to her colon and lower intestine.

However, relatives proposed a shocking hypothesis: The girl’s grandmother, her main caretaker, had been administering poison to her.

Following an inquiry, authorities concluded that the 56-year-old grandmother, Lisa Campbell-Goins, had been administering an alkaline-like substance, likely a degreaser, through the girl’s feeding tube, according to a probable cause arrest affidavit.

The Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office identified the medical child abuse as a situation involving Munchausen by proxy syndrome, according to a Facebook post. The condition is defined as the creation or elicitation of indicators or manifestations of an illness, as stated by the National Institutes of Health.

Authorities suspect that Campbell-Goins was inserting the unnecessary gastric feeding tube into her granddaughter with the intent to induce medical issues. There are also suspicions that she might have been trying to garner sympathy for the girl in order to establish a GoFundMe account for financial support.

Last week, deputies took Campbell-Goins into custody on allegations of child exploitation, child injury, and unlawful restraint. She is currently held at the Tarrant County Corrections Center with a bond set at $150,000.

The affidavit reveals that Campbell-Goins has been responsible for the girl’s care since she was a baby. A grandmother is said to have brought her granddaughter to Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth in August 2023 due to severe dehydration, vomiting, and diarrhea. Medical professionals are reportedly perplexed by the girl’s gastrointestinal issues, as the symptoms do not align with any recognized medical condition.

While doctors provided her with a gastric tube for medication, Campbell-Goins reportedly advocated for them to also use the tube for feeding her. The girl’s health showed signs of improvement, but unfortunately, she returned to facing the same issues. In January 2024, family members allegedly reached out to law enforcement, expressing concerns that Campbell-Goins was administering poison to the girl via her feeding tube.

As Campbell-Goins lacks legal guardianship over the girl, the staff was permitted to discharge her from the hospital. The girl’s health took an unexpected turn for the better following the departure of her grandmother, according to the affidavit. The inquiry has allegedly uncovered that Campbell-Goins was transmitting Mean Green Degreaser through the girl’s tube. It has been reported that fingernail polish remover was discovered in the bedrooms of both Campbell-Goins and her granddaughter.

Authorities suspect that Campbell-Goins was administering sedatives to manage the girl’s behavior.

Surprisingly, this isn’t the initial instance of Campbell-Goins facing allegations of medical abuse against a child.
