An Austin police officer has been arrested on two charges of Injury to a Child, according to the Cedar Park Police Department.
Cameron Caldwell voluntarily surrendered to the Williamson County Jail on Friday morning, as reported by CPPD. The charges are related to an incident that occurred at Caldwell’s residence, according to investigators.
Legal records According to state prosecutors, Caldwell is accused of causing bodily injury to a child in one case by striking his buttocks and face, or throwing his body into his bed. In another case, Caldwell is alleged to have caused bodily injury to a child by striking his face with his hand or throwing a toy at him.
Brad Heilman, Caldwell’s attorney, expressed anticipation in reviewing the evidence and providing a strong defense for Officer Caldwell during the court process.
The Austin Police Department has taken the necessary steps in response to Caldwell’s situation, adhering to their standard protocol. Caldwell has been placed on restricted duty and an administrative investigation has been initiated.
