Terrifying Dog Attack in Enid Leaves Mother Hospitalized, Toddler Unharmed after Cop Shot Dog Dead

On Thursday morning, Madison Ramey began her day just like any other. She enjoyed a morning meal with her one-year-old daughter, Maeve, before taking her outside for some playtime in their yard.

Ramey then made the choice to take a walk, and that’s when events took a chilling twist.

“As soon as they turned around and saw me, the brown one [dog] bared his teeth at me,” Ramey said.

Authorities have reported that two dogs have caused injuries to three individuals. Ramey was transported to a medical facility for treatment of her inch-deep bites. The remaining individuals opted out of receiving medical care.

In addition to healing from the many bites, Ramey faced the challenge of receiving multiple Rabies vaccinations.

In her contemplation of the frightening event, she recounts experiencing shock as she instinctively pulled her daughter close to shield her from the aggressive dogs.

“I was deflecting them with this arm and just kind of letting them bite me and screaming for help, just hoping that somebody would hear me,” said Ramey.

In a desperate plea for assistance, she endured multiple bites in various locations, collapsing to the ground while fiercely protecting her daughter, who was held tightly against her.

Little Maeve is safe and unharmed.

Authorities swiftly responded to the situation and were compelled to take the drastic measure of shooting one of the dogs.

“Officers located one of the dogs and unfortunately had to shoot the dog after it attempted to attack one of our officers,” said Cass Rains, with the Enid Police Department.

Officials report that both canines were Pitbull mixes, with one still unaccounted for.

Ramey expresses her affection for dogs, sharing that she was raised in their company. She is a Pitbull owner herself, yet she describes this incident as a narrow escape.

“I was so scared they were going to grab my daughter, we probably won’t go on a walk without my fiancé with us for a while,” Ramey said.
