Roommates Accused of Beating Children with Belt and Stick in Texas; Mother Reported to Police after Severe Bruising Discovered

Texarkana, TX- The Texarkana Police Department arrested two ladies on Thursday after they were accused of beating their roommate’s children.

According to a release, the mother of three children phoned the Texarkana Police Department and said that she had left her children in the care of her roommates while she went to work. The mother said that when she arrived from work, her children informed her that her roommates had hit them with a belt and a stick, according to authorities.

According to law enforcement, “all three [children] had bruises and whelps on their buttocks and all down their legs.”

According to TTPD, a detective and a member of the Texarkana Children’s Advocacy Center interviewed the children, and as a result of their investigation, police secured arrest warrants for the roommates.

Haley Blevins, 19, of Texarkana, and Jacalyn Cook, 30, of Texarkana, were arrested at their residence on Thursday and transported to Bowie County Jail.

Haley Blevins was charged with three charges of child injury, while Jacalyn Cook faced two counts.
