Teacher Charged with 14 Counts of Sexual Assault to Elementary School Students in New Jersey: Authorities

Vincent Root, a 58-year-old teacher at New Jersey’s Chatsworth Elementary School, was charged with 14 counts of sexual attack and putting a child in danger.

A special education teacher from Philadelphia has been charged with more crimes after being accused of touching several elementary school children inappropriately.

Vincent Root, a 58-year-old teacher at New Jersey’s Chatsworth Elementary School, was charged with 14 counts of sexual attack and putting a child in danger.

Investigators say Root was first charged in 2023 after a student told them Root had touched them inappropriately while they were in school.

The investigation found that the claimed assaults took place over a number of years in school classrooms, and all of the victims were boys.

Prosecutors say Root pleaded guilty at his hearing last week. He is now free until his trial. The Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office has been asked by the police to hear from anyone who thinks Root hurt them.
