Teacher and Youth Leader Molested Several Minors in North Carolina; Sent to Jail after Guilty Plea

Aaron Doyle Mirtsching, aged 42, a former educator and youth leader in Burke County, has been sentenced to a minimum of 31 years in prison following his guilty plea on September 10 to charges related to child sexual offenses.

Mirtsching admitted guilt to three charges of statutory sexual offense involving a child, one charge related to a 13-to-15-year-old, and five charges of indecent liberties with a minor. A lengthy prison term of 31 to 46 years has been imposed on him.

In the year 2023, the Burke County Sheriff’s Office looked into a cyber-tip received from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. After the investigation, warrants were first issued against Mirtsching for three charges related to the sexual exploitation of a child. Mirtsching was taken into custody last August.

Mirtsching has a background as an educator at New Dimensions Charter School and has also served as a youth leader at Thrive Church.
