Sacramento, CA: According to the West Sacramento Police Department, a man pulled a loaded revolver on an officer as he was being detained for retail theft at Target. The incident occurred around the time that the officer was being arrested.
At the beginning of this week, officials stated that Target Assets Protection had alerted the West Sacramento Police Department (WSPD) regarding a shoplifter and an accomplice who were present in the store “concealing merchandise” in a bag.
Officers reported that a person under suspicion of committing retail theft had left the business and made an attempt to conceal themselves in the grass on the Clarksburg Trail when they arrived. The arrest and subsequent detention of him took place.

To make contact with the accomplice who was purportedly sitting in the Asset Protection office, a separate officer from the Washington State Police Department entered the Target store. The alleged incident occurred when the police attempted to handcuff the accomplice, and the accomplice allegedly began to attack the officer. After the incident, the suspect allegedly withdrew a loaded Glock handgun from his backpack, which was later determined to be stolen. This information was provided by the police.
During the altercation, the suspect dropped the pistol, and a member of the Target Assets Protection team kicked the gun out of the way, according to the police. Eventually, the officer managed to get the subject in handcuffs.
