Ridgefield, CT- A Connecticut man has confessed to the gruesome murder of his elderly father, according to authorities.
According to jail records, Steven James Uricchio, 31, is facing a charge of murder as a class A felony. Capital murder in Connecticut is only applicable to a small number of serious offenses. The defendant in this case could potentially be sentenced to 25 to 60 years in prison.
Authorities report that the accused individual committed a heinous act by taking the life of his father in a tragic incident of domestic violence. Subsequently, the perpetrator demonstrated a sense of responsibility by contacting emergency services to admit to the crime.
Early Saturday morning, authorities responded to an address on Powderhorn Drive in Ridgefield, a charming town nestled in the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains, close to the New York State border.
Officers discovered Marc Uricchio, 83, inside the house, and unfortunately, paramedics declared him deceased at the scene, according to the police.
According to Ridgefield Police Department spokesperson Jeff Raines, an initial press release provided a sanitized description of the crime scene, referring to it as a “domestic incident” and stating that an elderly male was found deceased inside the residence.
In court on Monday, the defendant’s appearance was accompanied by the revelation of even more disturbing details about the slaying in the police report.

According to a Police report, officers arrived to find the defendant outside the house with his hands already in the air. On the pavement, officers noticed that the man was perspiring profusely and had blood on his hands. Afterward, he provided the police with the location of his father.
According to authorities, the elder Uricchio was discovered in his upstairs bedroom. A lifeless body lay on the ground, its gaze fixed upon the doorway.
According to authorities, the suspect was admitted to a hospital during the weekend due to issues with their stomach and was questioned by medical professionals. According to reports, he claimed to have been prescribed medication but had neglected to take his pills for a while. He also admitted to occasionally using marijuana.
Steven Uricchio’s next court appearance is scheduled for September 4th.
