Shawnee Police hunting for Jackson County Legislator Manny Abarca, son

Kansas City, Missouri – The Shawnee, Kansas, Police Department is looking for Jackson County Legislator Manny Abarca and his son.

According to police, a missing persons report was made and is being investigated as of June 1. Alexis Garcia Abarca told FOX4 that she last saw Manuel “Manny” Abarca IV on Thursday.

The mother of their two-year-old kid, Manuel “Luca” Abarca V, says she last saw him on Wednesday evening.

When asked what she wanted her spouse to know, she replied, “All I want is my son.”

“I want to ensure my son’s safety. “I want my son to be with me.”

Alexis Garcia Abarca expresses fear for both Abarca and their son’s safety. The wife and mother stated that no family members, friends, or Abarca’s public service colleagues had been able to contact him since Friday.

However, Shawnee Police stated that “there is no immediate indication of danger”.

While he hasn’t been seen by his family since Thursday, Abarca did post the following on X on Friday, May 30, at 12:11 p.m.:

“Today, following a lively discussion at the Urban Summit this morning. Then, shortly after, we presented a preliminary budget amendment to the Legislative 2025 budget amendment, which we passed on December 31. It’s a step toward a compromise solution spearheaded by a strong coalition of legislators and the executive branch.”

Abarca also retweeted a missing juvenile post from the Kansas City Police Department, which was tweeted at 5:19 p.m. on May 30.

Abarca is an important character in Kansas City. He represents Jackson County’s First District and chairs the Health and Environment Committee.
