School District Employee in Illinois Arrested for Allegedly Sending Inappropriate Content to Student

An employee of a school district in Stephenson County, Illinois, was taken into custody on Thursday following an investigation into their communication with a student outside of school using a platform that was not approved by the district.

A 38-year-old man from Lena, Collin Zier, has been charged with a serious crime. The Stephenson County Sheriff’s Department made the announcement on Friday. An arrest was made at 7:25 p.m. Thursday at a residence in Lena.

An Orangeville School District official has reported an incident to the sheriff’s department involving an employee who was found to be communicating with a student outside of school. An investigation was initiated and led to the charge against Zier.

According to a recent news release, the Sheriff’s Department is urging any current or former Orangeville School District students with relevant information to reach out to the Sheriff’s Investigations Bureau.
