Dallas, TX: Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice turned himself into the Dallas Police after he took full responsibility for a chain crash in Dallas.
The NFL star is being charged with aggravated assault after he and another driver caused a chain-reaction crash in Dallas on Wednesday. Both the drivers were driving sports cars.
Police say that 23-year-old Rice has been given arrest warrants for one count of aggravated assault, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury, and six counts of collision involving injury.
Last week, Rice’s lawyer, state Sen. Royce West, said that Rice was driving a Lamborghini SUV when the accident happened.
The 21-year-old Theodore Knox was also wanted for the same charges because he was driving the other fast sports car, a Corvette.
Police say that the Corvette and Lamborghini drivers were going too fast in the far left lane on March 31. They lost control, and the Lamborghini went off the road and hit the wall in the middle of the median, starting the chain accident as per ABC News.
The crash involved a Lamborghini, a Corvette, and four other cars. Four people suffered minor injuries, according to the cops. Police said the drivers of the Corvette and Lamborghini left the scene of the accident without checking to see if anyone needed medical help.
Rice announced on his Instagram story last week that he was “completely responsible” for his contribution to the accident.
The maximum sentence for aggravated assault, which is a second-degree felony, is twenty years in prison. The maximum possible sentence for a third-degree felony collision resulting in bodily injury is ten years in prison, while the maximum possible sentence for a collision causing injury is five years in prison.
