Pregnant Passenger Killed in California After Car Crashes into Water: Authorities

A tragic incident occurred on Saturday when a vehicle plunged into water and sank in San Joaquin County, resulting in the death of a woman, according to officials.

A driver was heading west on Highway 4 close to Whiskey Slough Road at approximately 5:15 a.m. when they unexpectedly veered off and crashed into a body of water, according to the Stockton division of the California Highway Patrol.

The driver managed to escape from the water, but unfortunately, the passenger, a 21-year-old pregnant woman, did not make it. Authorities reported that officers searched for the vehicle following its sinking but were unable to locate it.

A helicopter and a boating team from the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to assist in the rescue operation, as reported by CHP.

According to the CHP, divers have located the vehicle containing the woman’s body.
