Kidnapping Suspect Apprehended After Low-Speed Mustang Chase in California

A suspect in a kidnapping case was apprehended on Saturday following a slow-speed pursuit across Los Angeles and Orange counties.

Information is scarce, but the California Highway Patrol reports that officers received a call regarding the suspect shortly before 7 p.m.

A routine traffic stop escalated into a pursuit on the 5 Freeway close to the 605.

A white Ford Mustang convertible with Nevada license plates was seen with an unidentified suspect and a woman, who is thought to be the victim, inside the vehicle.

Details regarding the reported abduction were not readily accessible, however, the El Monte Police Department verified to Eyewitness News that a “abduction case did take place” in the area.

Following multiple failed efforts, law enforcement managed to hinder the suspect’s progress by utilizing spike strips.

A Mustang was spotted traveling south on the 405 Freeway, near Valley View Street, with flat tires in the Huntington Beach/Westminster region.

The pursuit concluded at approximately 8:35 p.m.

El Monte police officers apprehended the suspect. The woman aboard the vehicle emerged unscathed.

At one moment, the individual accused and the purported victim were observed embracing prior to the arrest of the individual accused. The connection between the two remains ambiguous.
