Police Chase across Multiple County in Idaho, Ended with Crash in Eagle and 2 Arrests

Eagle, ID: Two people were taken into custody by law enforcement on Wednesday after one of them led law police on a car chase that spanned multiple counties on State Highway 55.

The Ada County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) reports that the pursuit began in Boise County, north of Horseshoe Bend, and continued into Ada County on State Highway 55 until coming to a conclusion near Eagle.

A request to assist in a pursuit was received by the Boise County Sheriff’s Office at approximately 2:28 p.m., according to the Boise County Sheriff’s Office.

“The suspect vehicle reached speeds in excess of 70 miles per hour, attempted to ram multiple citizens’ vehicles, and drove into oncoming traffic,” the police claimed, indicating that the driver posed a threat to the safety of the individuals in the community.

According to the Eagle Police Department, the vehicle was able to be stopped in Eagle, and two individuals were taken into custody.

The driver, who was named by the police as Charles Burke, was charged with various felonies in connection with the event. These charges include fleeing and eluding, possessing a controlled substance with the intent to deliver, committing aggravated assault, and being a felony in possession of a firearm. A misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia is also being brought against Burke.

It was found by the ACSO that Burke was already wanted for arrest on accusations of flight and narcotics possession.

A felony charge of possessing a controlled substance with the intent to deliver was brought against his passenger, Kimberly Espy, and a misdemeanor charge of possessing drug paraphernalia was brought against her, according to the police.

Due to the charges against them, both were transported to the Ada County Jail.
