Pet Dies from Severe Injuries Inflicted by Owner; Man Arrested for Brutal Animal Abuse in Indiana

A man was arrested by the Terre Haute Police Department following an animal cruelty report.

Officers from the Terre Haute Police Department were called to the 2200 block of Chase Street on Sunday around 7 p.m. following a report of animal cruelty, as stated in a Facebook post. Officers arrived to discover a seriously injured animal, the suspect, and witnesses present at the scene.

The suspect was apprehended following interviews with witnesses and the suspect, along with consultations with the Vigo County Prosecutor’s Office.

James P. Minard, 52, from Terre Haute, faces charges for both a misdemeanor and a felony related to animal cruelty. Minard is now in custody at the Vigo County Jail. Unfortunately, the wounded animal could not recover from its injuries and was euthanized to alleviate its suffering.
