Pennsylvania Man Sentenced to 17 Years for Sexual Assaulting a Juvenile Boy

A guy from Pittston Township was given a maximum term of seventeen years in state prison after being caught over three years ago on charges of sexually assaulting a minor.

For involuntary deviant sexual encounters, 27-year-old Travis Lee Abbott received a jail sentence of six to seventeen years from Judge Joseph F. Sklarosky Jr. of Luzerne County. Abbott entered a guilty plea on April 5.

Abbott was also ordered to register his address for life under the state’s Sexual Offender Registration and Notification Act and given a sentence of three years of consecutive probation.

In May of 2021, when a forensic interviewer was questioning a youngster at the Luzerne County Children’s Advocacy Center, Abbott was apprehended by police in Pittston Township.

Court papers indicate that the minor testified during the interview that Abbott had sexually attacked him in a “secret room” within his residence and gave specific information about the attack.

Max C. Lubin, Abbott’s attorney, argued for a reduced term before Sklarosky handed down the punishment. Lubin said that Abbott had suffered physical and sexual abuse at the hands of his biological father and foster care.

According to Lubin, a psychologist had identified multiple mental health difficulties in Abbott.

“Mr. Abbott’s behavior is not excused by the fact that there was significant trauma in his life,” Lubin argued in favor of a reduced sentence.

According to Carly Levandoski, an assistant district attorney, Abbott “took advantage” of the victim.

Abbott was granted credit for 1,148 days of his incarceration at the county prison.
