Ohio Mother Never Took Baby to Hospital who Had Several Broken Bones and Black-Eye; Arrested after Doctor Called Cops on Mom

Honk News (Scioto County, OH) – A mother from Ohio has been arrested following the discovery that her 9-month-old child sustained broken bones, a black eye, and various other unexplained injuries, while she allegedly disregarded guidance to seek medical attention for the infant.

Authorities reported that the injuries occurred over multiple days, indicating that this was not merely an isolated event. Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman announced in a press release that deputies were dispatched just before 6 p.m. Friday following a request for assistance from Child Services and the New Boston Police Department after paramedics transported a 9-month-old baby to Southern Ohio Medical Center.

The child was subsequently moved approximately 90 miles north to Nationwide Children’s Center in Columbus, where a dedicated team of specialists in child abuse was available to provide care.

On Friday, detectives visited the residence located in the 3000 block of Rhodes Avenue in New Boston, where they conducted interviews with the mother, 30-year-old Kayla Siearra Williams, along with others present. Following a report from the children’s hospital on Saturday, authorities brought Williams in for additional questioning at the Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities found that the earliest injury dated back approximately 10 days, while the latest occurred roughly four days before the interview, according to the press release. Investigators discovered that Williams had previously brought the child to King’s Daughter Medical Center on Friday, where medical professionals advised her to “take the child directly to Nationwide Hospital.”

However, it is claimed that she failed to take any action. According to the press release, the absence of Williams prompted hospital staff to reach out to Children Services, initiating the investigation that ultimately resulted in Williams’ arrest.

Thoroughman did not clarify the circumstances surrounding the child’s injuries. The child’s gender was not specified either. Two additional children were taken from the residence by child services.

Williams is confronted with allegations involving two counts related to second-degree endangerment of children and five counts pertaining to third-degree endangerment of children. She is presently held in the Scioto County Jail with a bond set at $350,000, and her mug shot captures her seemingly smirking at the camera.
