A woman from Alamance County is confronting serious felony charges following allegations of strangling a child, as reported by the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office.
On Wednesday, authorities initiated an inquiry regarding a claim of child abuse in Alamance County.
A young victim informed authorities that they were attacked by Jordan Paige Hayes, leading to sufficient grounds to file felony child abuse charges against Hayes.
On Wednesday, authorities apprehended Hayes.
On Thursday, authorities reported that they delved deeper into the case and established sufficient grounds to charge Hayes with felony assault by strangulation.
An arrest warrant for Hayes reveals that the young victim endured several abrasions, a bloody nose, and was experiencing oxygen deprivation. The young victim displayed scratches on their throat consistent with strangulation.
Hayes faces allegations in the warrant of having “placed her hand on the victim’s throat” and obstructing their “nose and mouth.”
On Thursday, Hayes appeared in court for the first time, where her bond was established at $20,000 secured. She is still being held in Alamance County.
