New Jersey Opens Pre-Application for Affordable Housing Assistance Program

New Jersey Launches Pre-Application Phase for State Rental Aid Initiative

The New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA) has revealed that the pre-application period for the waiting list of the State Rental Assistance Program (SRAP) is now open. Starting January 13, 2025, and continuing until January 31, 2025, qualified residents of New Jersey will have the opportunity to apply online for essential state rental support.

The SRAP initiative focuses on delivering secure, reliable, and cost-effective housing solutions for veterans, seniors, individuals with disabilities, and families with limited income.

At the conclusion of the pre-application phase, a computer-randomized lottery will determine the selection of 6,000 households to be added to the SRAP waiting list. To apply, individuals must be a minimum of 18 years old or an emancipated minor, and they must reside in New Jersey.

Households that meet certain criteria will be prioritized, including those of veterans, individuals facing homelessness, persons with disabilities, senior citizens, and residents of the local area.

The selection process will take place once the application period concludes, and those chosen will receive a notification via email. Individuals seeking updates can verify their application status online starting February 14, 2025.
