Musician Arrested in Ohio for Sexual Assault Against Minor; Authorities Say that He Groomed Children for a Decade

A former member of the Harrisburg Symphony has been apprehended and is facing numerous serious charges related to the long-term sexual abuse of a child.

A man from Sheffield Lake, Ohio has been charged with multiple serious offenses involving children. The charges include rape, indecent assault, indecent exposure, unlawful contact with a minor, corruption of minors, and statutory sexual assault.

The Lower Paxton Township Police Department has reported that Rathnam has been arrested at his Ohio residence. He was apprehended based on a warrant issued by the Lower Paxton Bureau of Police.

The charges against him include rape of a child and several other sexual offenses. These crimes were committed against a child under the age of 10 over several years. The incidents took place in various locations throughout Dauphin County and other areas of Pennsylvania between 2008 and 2019.

Based on the affidavit of probable cause, the victim experienced various physical and medical problems as a result of Rathnam’s mistreatment.

Throughout the investigation, several conversations were lawfully recorded between Rathnam and the victim.

According to an online biography, Rathnam held the position of concertmaster with the Harrisburg Symphony for a remarkable 21 years.

Rathnam is currently being held at Dauphin County Prison and it appears that his request for bail has been denied. The preliminary hearing is set for July 29th as reported by Fox-43 News.
