A man has been charged with sexually assaulting a child at the Larned Swimming Pool, according to the Pawnee County Attorney’s Office.
A Great Bend man with intellectual disabilities has been identified as the suspect. He is facing charges for two counts of aggravated oral sodomy and one count of aggravated indecent liberties. He is facing charges under Jessica’s Law because of the child’s age.
The Larned Police Department looked into the incident that was said to have taken place on July 11. During the incident, the authorities questioned the individual on-site but refrained from making an arrest due to concerns regarding the suspect’s mental capacity.
Avian Rincones of Great Bend, aged 34, willingly surrendered himself to the sheriff’s office on Wednesday, according to Pawnee County Attorney Douglas McNett.

The legal guardian was informed that charges had been filed and an arrest warrant without bond was issued. Rincones faces charges of two counts of aggravated criminal oral sodomy of a child under the age of 14, as well as one count of aggravated indecent liberties with a child.
After concluding its investigation, the Larned PD handed over the case to the Pawnee County Attorney’s Office for potential criminal charges.
Multiple agencies are involved in the investigation, including the Kansas Bureau of Investigation as reported by KAKE News.
If Rincones is found guilty, he could potentially face a sentence of 25 years to life in prison due to the age of the victim, as mandated by Jessica’s Law.
His next court appearance is set for August 17th.
