A 1-year-old boy ran into the street and was struck by a truck close to his home in Brooklyn on Thursday afternoon, according to police reports.
A mother was pursuing her child when he was hit by a black SUV close to 59th Street and 12th Avenue in Borough Park at approximately 3:20 p.m., as reported by the NYPD.
Authorities reported that the boy was taken to the hospital and was in critical condition as of Friday morning.
A neighbor’s surveillance video captured the moment the boy dashed out from between two parked cars and into the street, with his mother following closely behind. The video captured the moment the woman lifted her son and carried him away from the street after the incident.
The driver of the SUV stayed at the scene, according to police, but it remains uncertain whether any charges will be brought forward.
