A mother in Miami Gardens was arrested by the police after a video surfaced showing her using a hanger to whip and beat her 3-year-old toddler, as per official records.
Aaliyah Shantrelle Herring, 25, is currently facing two charges related to child abuse.
David Jones recounted to NBC6 that his Facetime conversation with his ex-partner and the mother of his child took a sudden and violent turn.
“Blowing up my phone telling me to pick up (the child)…saying that she had it, I’m making excuses… and not caring for her. I’m not acting like the father I was supposed to be,” Jones said, explaing why Herring was upset during the Facetime call.
Jones claimed to have started screen recording when Herring allegedly began physically disciplining their child with an object resembling a hanger.
The couple has ended their relationship and Jones now has supervised visits.
“Since you don’t want to handle your own kid. Guess what? I’ll eliminate her my damn self, how about that?” Herring says during the call.
“Still don’t want to shut up? That’s fine, y’all going to watch me kill your kid, how about that?” she says at one point.
During an interview with the police, Herring stated that she was “disciplining the victim for throwing a remote at her.” The woman later alleged that the video was created by the victim’s father using artificial intelligence, and she denied being the person in the video.
Judge Mindy Glazer has granted her release from jail, with the condition that she maintains distance from the 3-year-old.
Jones confirmed that the victim is currently in the care of Herring’s stepmother.
