In a tragic incident, a young child was discovered crawling towards a highway after being exposed to harsh weather for two days. This heart-wrenching event occurred in Louisiana and was brought to the attention of a vigilant trucker. The local sheriff has referred to the surviving child as a “miracle baby” and as a result, the mother of the children has been arrested.
Aaliyah Jack, a 25-year-old resident of Lake Charles, Louisiana, has been charged with failure to report a missing child. She is currently being detained in Meridian, Mississippi, by the Meridian Police Department.
There is a possibility of additional charges as the police continue to investigate the case. It is anticipated that she will be extradited to Louisiana. A bond of $300,000 has been set by the judge who issued a warrant for her arrest.
Deputies from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office were called to the Louisiana Welcome Center near the Louisiana-Texas border in Vinton in response to reports of a body discovered in a lake, as stated in an official statement.
Authorities were informed by a relative that the deceased child, who had last been seen with Jack and his younger brother on July 6, has been identified as Jack’s 4-year-old son.
Authorities alerted local law enforcement agencies to be vigilant for Jack following the issuance of an arrest warrant. However, it was not until July 9 at approximately 9 a.m. that deputies received a report about a baby found in a ditch on the eastbound I-10 Interstate.
During a recent press conference, Calcasieu Sheriff Stitch Guillory addressed the discovery of a 1-year-old child and mentioned that an autopsy would be conducted on a 4-year-old. The purpose of the autopsy is to determine whether the child drowned or if they were already deceased before being found in the water.
Guillory became visibly emotional during the press conference broadcasted by New Orleans NBC affiliate WDSU. A 1-year-old managed to endure two days alone in stormy weather caused by Hurricane Beryl hitting Texas.
“We consider this 1-year-old to be our miracle baby because he survived,” Guillory said, struggling to hold back tears. She later expressed gratitude, saying, “We are thankful that the trucker noticed him.”
He mentioned that it was surprising that the storm had brought cloud cover and rain, which helped to lower the temperature.
Guillory stated that their assistance played a crucial role in the individual’s survival over the past two days as reported by Law and Crime.
As of Thursday, online court records were not yet accessible. It remains uncertain whether Jack has sought legal representation, and the police have not disclosed any possible motives.
The child who survived was taken to a nearby hospital and has now been placed under the care of the state after receiving medical attention.
The grandmother of the boys expressed her confusion and lack of understanding regarding her daughter’s potential involvement in harming the children. According to her, her daughter has been facing difficulties recently, and she and other family members have been providing assistance.
Conswella According to Jack, she saw her daughter for the last time in Louisiana on July 6. Conswella Jack’s mother passed away and a funeral is currently taking place. Aaliyah Jack had left with the boys after meeting on Saturday and by Sunday.
