Honk News (ROGERSVILLE, MO) – A teacher from Ozark High School faces allegations of misconduct involving a student, including providing her with alcohol during an incident in 2024.
A 17-year-old victim has come forward, stating that 52-year-old Richard Haney provided her with alcohol and engaged in inappropriate touching at his residence in Rogersville on Halloween in 2024, as detailed in the probable cause statement.
The individual reported to the authorities Haney took her to his residence, stopping to grab some drinks en route. During her time at Haney’s home, Haney prepared several drinks for her, and she started to feel the effects of alcohol.
Later that evening, Haney suggested giving her a massage after she mentioned her back pain. During the massage, he took off the victim’s clothes, kissed her unexpectedly, and attempted to touch her inappropriately until she firmly said no, which frightened Haney, as stated in court documents.
According to online court records, Haney faces charges related to inappropriate contact with a student and providing alcohol to a minor.
The Ozark School District has not confirmed to OzarksFirst the current employment status of Haney, as he is absent from the latest staff directory.
According to state records, Haney has served as a JROTC instructor at Ozark High School since 2022.
