A nine-month-old boy is in critical condition at a Kansas City hospital, and a 28-year-old man faces charges of child abuse.
On Saturday, deputies from the Newton County Sheriff’s Office discovered a child with injuries at a residence in Newtonia. In an interview, Jordan Boggess explained to detectives that the baby was crying incessantly, prompting him to throw the child into the air without catching him.
Boggess later confessed to holding the child tightly until the screaming stopped. Medical professionals informed investigators that the child suffered from “abusive head trauma” along with additional injuries.
Boggess is engaged to the mother of the boy. He is currently incarcerated with no possibility of bail.
