A man from Maryland has been found guilty of murder, over three years after he committed a horrific act of violence. He attempted to set his own child on fire and tragically took the lives of the child’s mother and grandmother in a shooting rampage.

Last week, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Washington, D.C. announced the tragic incident where Ebony Wright and her mother Wanda Wright lost their lives at the hands of Ebony’s ex-boyfriend. The incident occurred in April 2021 when the ex-boyfriend had arranged to meet his newborn child for the first time.

A horrific incident occurred in Washington, D.C. on April 12, 2021, where Keanan Turner, 34, committed a heinous act of violence. Authorities revealed that Turner not only shot Ebony’s sister in the face but also attempted to set an infant on fire.

According to a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, it was discovered that Ebony and Turner were in a relationship at the time she became pregnant.

According to authorities, Turner requested Ebony to end the pregnancy, but she chose not to comply. Consequently, he ceased all communication with her. The statement did not provide a clear timeline of events, but according to a GoFundMe set up by the family, the infant was 4 months old at the time of the violent incident.

Following the birth of the child, Ebony filed a lawsuit against Turner in a court in D.C. seeking child support. According to the statement, Turned contacted her and expressed a desire to meet their child for the first time.

They decided to meet at Ebony’s home in Washington, D.C., where her mother Wanda Wright and sister were also there.

Turner and the Wright family members, along with the newborn, had all spent an hour together in the home when Turner carried out his rampage.

He fatally shot Ebony in the head and then her mother, Wanda, in the back of her head. According to authorities, he proceeded to another bedroom and shot Ebony’s sister in the face.

According to prosecutors, before leaving the apartment, the defendant set fire to the custody paperwork in an alarming attempt to harm the child.

Authorities were able to identify him when he inadvertently revealed a distinctive arm tattoo while attempting to remove a ring camera while fleeing the apartment.

According to the statement, Ebony’s sister, who is still alive, heard her nephew cry from the next room and was able to swiftly carry him out of the apartment before alerting the authorities.

As per the GoFundMe page, Ebony’s sister, who was a college student when the slayings occurred, was getting ready to take care of her nephew following the tragic incident.

Turner has been convicted of multiple serious charges, including first-degree murder, assault, cruelty to children, arson, and destruction of property, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
