A former instructor at Fort Bend ISD’s Quail Valley Middle School has been arrested and charged with serious offenses, including sexual assault of a child and possession of a large amount of child pornography.
Dona Devon Pettway, a long-time employee of the Dallas-based program, was terminated in June following allegations of an inappropriate relationship with a student that came to light through Fort Bend ISD.
Both charges come with a bond of $250,000 each. Pettway appeared before a Fort Bend County magistrate on Monday following his arrest on Friday. A court date has been scheduled for September 30 in the 458th District Court.
Sherry Williams, a spokesperson for Fort Bend ISD, mentioned a statement that the district had previously released in June.
“The district was recently made aware of an allegation of inappropriate conduct of a contracted employee with a student. The contracted employee was recently released from the district and will not be returning to any FBISD campus pending the results of an investigation by the Fort Bend ISD Police Department.
