A man in South Carolina is accused of killing his girlfriend. Police say the woman told a friend that her boyfriend was going to kill her before she disappeared.
A Bamberg County Sheriff’s Office incident report says that 24-year-old Megan Bodiford disappeared on April 25 after reportedly calling a friend and telling her that if she didn’t hear from her within 30 minutes, she needed to call the police.
According to the report, the mother of three young girls told her friend that she thought her 28-year-old boyfriend Jarrett Davis “was going to kill her.”
The report says that the sheriff’s office searched the couple’s home in Denmark and arrested Davis as he came out of a shed in the garden. Deputies went into Bodiford’s house and found his 4-month-old daughter in the living room. She was not hurt. But Bodiford was nowhere to be found.
After five days, on April 30, she was found dead in her car, having been shot. The police say Davis killed her and then set fire to her car while she was inside.
Davis was charged on May 3 with murder, having a gun during a violent crime, having a gun without a permit while guilty of a felony, setting a fire, and desecration of human remains.
The Bamberg County Detention Center took him into custody. The authorities have launched an investigation to look into the matter. The status of the custody of her daughter has not been revealed by the officials.
