Man Sent to Jail after Sexually Assaulting 15-year-old; was on Bail for Same Offence when Incident Happened in California

The United States Department of Justice said on Monday that a man from Fresno was punished for attempting to compel a child and then committing rape on that child while he was out on bail.

According to a press release issued by the authorities, Christopher Contreras, who is 36 years old, was judged guilty of coercion and attempted coercion of juveniles and received a term of 15 years and nine months in prison.

The United States District Judge Jennifer L. Thurston handed down his sentence, and according to the prosecution, he will be required to register as a sexual offender after he is released from jail.

Additionally, he will be required to continue to be monitored for a period of twenty years. After attempting to meet a 13-year-old for sexual purposes through the use of applications such as Skout and Snapchat, he was initially taken into custody on July 31, 2020, as stated by the authorized authorities. Contreras was taken into custody when he went to a location in Fresno in order to meet the person he believed to be the kid. According to the prosecution, he absconded from the Fresno County Jail in a span of less than twenty-four hours as reported by FresnoBee.

Fresnobee claims that while he was out on bond, he successfully coerced a young person into meeting with him on October 13, 2020, and then sexually assaulted the boy, who was 15 years old. Contreras was taken into custody at his residence, and the deputies took possession of a significant number of his personal electronic devices.
